WALSHAM Le Willows booked their place in the fourth round thanks to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Essex Senior League visitors White Ensign.

The Suffolk side could not have wished for a better start as Jack Brame turned and rifled the ball into the top of the net inside just two minutes.

Walsham continued to have the better of things with Charlie Norman and Scott Chaplin having opportunities to double the lead before Ezekiel Bademosi twice went close at the other end, only to be denied by home goalkeeper Ryan Dunne. Then, two minutes before the break, the home side made it 2-0 when Harvey Hubbard turned the ball past Ensign’s Harry Fairs.

An own-goal early in the second half handed the visitors a lifeline but it looked to be all over when Charlie Iglesais added a third for Walsham on 84 minutes and this proved the winner, with Mechack Asuka adding a second for the visitors.

Charnock Richard were convincing 4-0 victors at Carlisle City, helped by a hattrick from star turn Rustam Stepans.

It didn’t take him long to find his range, firing the North West Counties League side into a third-minute lead and then adding his second

six minutes later. Jacob Ridings made it 3-0 on 83 minutes before Stepans completed his treble two minutes later.

They will now travel to Emley in the next round after the Yorkshire side saw off visitors West Didsbury and Chorlton 4-0.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes, Alex Metcalfe opened the scoring early in the second period with Paul Walker adding a second before Ruben Jerome wrapped things up with a late double, including a penalty.

Also through are Lincoln Town, who edged out visitors Congleton Town 2-1.

Matt Cotton and Tobias Liversidge gave the home side a two-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes with the Cheshire outfit responding with a Max McCarthy effort midway through the second period.

The only other tie to beat the weather was at Biggleswade United, who lost 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw with Whitchurch Alport of the Midland Football League.

Joe Babage and a Jack Stronge penalty made up the home side’s tally with Chris Aziamale scoring both for the visitors, who played the second half with ten men after Adam Hailes saw red.

There is one tie pencilled in for today – Hilltop’s clash with Hamble Club to be played at Bedfont Sports.
