KEVIN PHILLIPS insists he can breathe fresh life into Hartlepool United’s stuttering season.
The former Sunderland striker was unveiled as Pools’ new head coach as they kicked off their National League clash at Ebbsfleet United.
The 50-year-old took a watching brief with Anthony Mancini hitting a stunning winner to take his new side up to 13th in the table.
Phillips left South Shields at the end of last season despite guiding the Mariners to the Northern Premier League title in his first full season at the helm.
