Falmouth Town fans make special trek for Jersey Bulls clash

Falmouth Town

By Ken Gaunt

Graham Medlin,  proud chairman of Western League Falmouth Town, has saluted the club’s supporters as they head  to the Channel Islands this weekend.

There were fears only a few people  would be able to make the long trip and watch the crucial fifth round Isuzu FA Vase match against Jersey Bulls.

Instead  they will travel in their hundreds by all manner of means in the hope of pushing their team one step closer to Wembley.

Considering Falmouth  play in the fifth tier of Non-League football it is a huge financial commitment as Medlin acknowledges.

“It is fantastic news that so many people are making the trip to cheer on the team,” he said. “It could be more than 160.”

Seventy fans from club-backed supporters group, the F-Troop, chartered a plane out of Newquay after a crowd funder raised over £4,000.

It was set up because as interest in the match increased the prices of a scheduled flight from Exeter increased as well and became unaffordable.

Supporters are also flying  out of Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton while some others are travelling by ferry from Portsmouth.

It’s an exciting time for Falmouth as they are chasing a unique double-promotion and winning the Vase, The Jersey boys will have something to say about that, though.
