IT wasn’t pretty but promotion hopefuls Wingate & Finchley held their nerve late to claim a 2-1 victory against Hastings United in a tightly-contested match that burst into life in the final half-hour.
Hastings’ Swiss-born forward Davide Rodari came close to finding the breakthrough after 19 minutes, but hosts’ stopper Charlie Grainger denied him with a smart save.
