CRAY had to work hard to beat a determined Wingate & Finchley side who finished with nine men.
The game was played at a frenetic pace and Cray came close twice in the first five minutes through Josh Williams while, for the visitors, Frankie Morgan did well to deny Ore Bello.
Ashley Nzala saw a couple of shots blocked and Nods Bobomurodov had an excellent strike go just over.
