ST ALBANS CITY completed the calendar year on a high with a comfortable victory over their local rivals Wingate & Finchley.
The home side had the better of the opening exchanges and almost took the lead with a slice of luck when Billy Cracknell directed a header towards his own goal which Charlie Grainger tipped wide.
Grainger was involved again mid-way through the half, losing the ball when coming off his line, but the dangerous Jasper Mather’s follow-up was cleared off the line.
