ALFIE ALLEN’S second goal of the season ensured Canvey Island remain entrenched in a relegation battle after succumbing to a 1-0 home defeat by Lewes at the Steves’ Taxis Stadium. The visitors were dominant for much of the first-half, with Gulls much improved after the break – particularly in the final 20 minutes – without any tangible reward for their efforts.
Rooks began positively with Bobby Unwin curling a shot against the post after a fast break.
