PLAY-OFF hopefuls Darlington had to wait until a moment of class by Will McGowan in added time secured the points.
It looked like being a different story against relegation-threatened Alfreton as after just 18 minutes when Quakers had a 2-0 lead.
They began life after Charlie Lennon – recalled by Middlesbrough and sold to Barnsley – with Tom Allan tapping in at close-range after McGowan’s low cross.
