Kevin Maher knows Southend United need to go deep into the hurt locker if they’re to achieve their goals this season.
Play like they did against Rochdale on Tuesday night and you wouldn’t bet on them being too far away as they ended the league leaders’ 15-game unbeaten run with a 3-2 victory.
But with four midweek games still to play around the busy Saturday and Easter schedule – including the not insignificant matter of an away FA Trophy semi-final at Southport – there’s little time to pause for thought. And there will surely be ups and downs.
