Newcastle United legends lace up at Heaton Stannington

Newcastle United legends Shola Ameobi and Shay Given visited Heaton Stannington to see how the NPL East club have utilised £250,000 from the Premier League Stadium Fund.

Non-league outfit Heaton Stannington share their corner of the world with Premier League giants Newcastle United, based just three miles from St James’ Park and playing in the same iconic black and white.
As the Stan continue to chase a top six finish in the Northern Premier League, Newcastle legends Shola Ameobi and Shay Given recently came out of retirement to train with the club’s first team.
Ameobi and Given returned to the north-east to see how the club have utilised £250,000 from the Premier League Stadium Fund to make upgrades at Grounsell Park.
