Kelly Waters has admitted AFC Whyteleafe surprised even themselves by winning yet another promotion.
Leafe defeated AFC Croydon Athletic 5-4 on penalties at Mayfields last Friday, after a 1-1 draw in their Isthmian South East play-off final, to secure a fifth elevation since the phoenix club formed in 2021.
Their latest triumph – having finished fourth and beaten Jersey Bulls to reach the final – is the more remarkable given the former Whyteleafe, folded five years ago, never reached Step 3 in their 75-year history.
