Anton Ferdinand admits joining the coaching staff at Hornchurch has given him new ‘buzz and purpose’ after linking up with old friend Daryl McMahon’s National League newcomers.

The former West Ham defender played with Urchins boss McMahon at the Hammers as a youngster but has not followed his former teammate into coaching or management until now.
The 41-year-old recently became first-team coach at Bridge Avenue, two months after the club secured a first ever promotion to the top tier of Non-League by beating Torquay in a dramatic playoff final.
