Woodford saves day as Banbury blocked

THE only goalless game on the opening day of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division came at the Grundon Community Stadium where Bishop’s Stortford faced Banbury in a drab encounter.
In a game which won’t last long in the memory, the opening ‘bright’ spot came when Frank Norris outmuscled a defender and laid the ball off to the alert Harry Titchmarsh arriving on the edge of the box.
But his low shot was pushed round the post by Jack Harding.
