Rob Payne returned to work on Tuesday but his was the best story when colleagues compared notes about what they had done the previous weekend.
His last-gasp goal, a diving header, secured a dramatic victory for Cheshire League that sent them through to the UEFA Regions’ Cup finals next summer.
The striker’s magic moment in the 96th minute was a historic one too, for it means England will be represented for the first time in the last eight of the only UEFA competition for amateur and grassroots teams.
