Charlie Austin has backed Non-League protege Shaquille Gwengwe to follow in his footsteps by forging a career in the pro game.
NGA winner Gwengwe, 25, was plucked by Newport County from Poole Town in the summer after equalling Austin’s astonishing record of 46 goals in 46 games for the Southern League Premier South side last season.
And, like Austin, he has hit the EFL running, netting four goals in his first seven League Two outings – despite playing on the left wing.
