JOSH Hawkes’ first-half goal saw Hartlepool United get back to winning ways against fellow strugglers Maidenhead United at York Road.
The forward swept home the game’s only goal from the edge of the area in the 16th minute, the ball finding its way past Carl Pentney with the aid of a slight deflection off Alfie Kilgour.
The Magpies’ hopes of getting back into the contest weren’t helped when James Comley was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge on Luke James early in the second half.
