FOR 70 minutes it looked like Ben Clark’s first homegame as manager of Gateshead would be a damp squib.
Steve Watson’s replacement at the International Stadium watched on as the Heed struggled to find their mojo.
Wood deservedly led at the break through Sean- Shields’ first goal for the club.
The visitors didn’t do enough after the restart and the introduction of playmaker Greg Olley on the hour lifted Gateshead.
