TAYE Ashby-Hammond’s second-half penalty save proved the turning point as Maidenhead United ran out winners over newly promoted Chorley.
United grabbed all three points thanks to goals from Josh Kelly, Jake Cassidy, and a thrilling late double from substitute Danny Whitehall. But for large periods the game was firmly in the balance with Chorley laying a claim to being the better side.
They began brightly and Marcus Carver was denied by the feet of Ashby-Hammond in the 12th minute after a lovely, intricate passing move to set him up.
