CHARLES VERNAM scored twice as Chorley picked up their first away win of the season as they survived a late fight back from Chesterfield.
The Magpies have had a tumultuous season so far, but finally picked up three points on the road. A brace from Vernam and a powerful header from captain Courtney Meppen-Walters proved to be enough for the result for the visitors, giving them hope in their fight for survival. Chorley boss Jamie Vermiglio hailed the character of his players. Vermiglio said:
