FC HALIFAX TOWN ensured Phil Brown had an unhappy return to The Shay after putting on an impressive display to defeat his Southend United side.
Brown played 135 games for the Shaymen from 1985 to 1988 but there was no easy ride for the former Hull City and Derby County boss as Pete Wild’s men ran riot.
Goals either side of half-time from Jordan Slew and Billy Waters put them in control before a third from defender Niall Maher ensured Rhys Murphy’s late goal back was mere consolation.
