MATTHEW Dennis’ early strike proved decisive as Southend United edged past Weymouth in the battle of the bottom at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Dennis coolly netted the only goal of the game in the fifth minute to subject the Terras to a seventh straight National League defeat while lifting the Shrimpers out of the relegation zone to 19th.
