Bromley let Andy Woodman speak to Gillingham

have reluctantly allowed League One Gillingham to talk to Ravens manager Andy Woodman about their managerial vacancy.

The League One Gills are on the search for a new manager following the departure of Steve Evans.

Woodman, who took over from Neil Smith at Bromley in March 2021, guided the Ravens to the play-offs last season and currently has them fifth in the table.

That has caught the eye of other clubs and the former Arsenal and Newcastle goalkeeper coach is on Gillingham's radar.

In a statement Bromley said “we have always looked to do the right thing by our staff and players when official approaches have been made, and thus, permission has been granted for both parties to speak”.

But chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves says they will do all they can to keep Woodman at the helm.

In a statement, he said: “I will do my absolute best to retain Andy's services and I very much wish to keep him at Bromley Club. Equally though, I accept the prospect of immediately managing an EFL League One side will be difficult for Andy to refuse.”

The statement added: “Gillingham are fully aware of the terms of Andy's contract with Bromley Football and the level of compensation required.”
