Notts County land Harry Arter on loan

have pulled off a coup with the signing of former Premier League midfielder Harry Arter on loan from Nottingham Forest.

The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international has joined the promotion chasers on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

Arter, who has 19 international caps, has only played a handful of games this campaign having had a loan spell at League One Charlton Athletic earlier in the season before returning to his parent club.

The midfielder first made his name in with , then in the Conference South, before earning a move to AFC in 2010.

There he helped the Cherries win promotion from League One and the Championship where he became a Premier League regular.

He has also had spells at Cardiff City and Fulham before joining Nottingham Forest in 2020.

And Notts County boss Ian Burchnall revealed the move came about through Arter himself.

The Magpies head coach told the club's website: “We're delighted that the opportunity to sign someone of Harry's pedigree has presented itself to us.

“This move was instigated by Harry himself, which demonstrates his character and determination to play competitive , and we'd like to thank Forest for their cooperation in making the deal happen.

“We'll obviously have to build Harry's minutes gradually initially but with so many games coming up in quick succession we're confident he'll be up to speed quickly and will be a big help to us.”
