National League

NLP Verdict – a look at the first debate

NLP Verdict

The debate is raging on our new NLP Verdict platform – and it’s clear that the majority of non-league supporters are in favour of three teams winning promotion from the National League to League Two at the end of each season.

There’s still plenty of time for you to join in.

Such has been the response since its launch on Monday, that we’re extending our online poll for another week to enable supporters to vote on the subject and join the debate.

So far, over 68% of you believe that a third promotion place would be a good thing for teams in the National League. Others are less sure, with 21% of you arguing it’s unnecessary and 10% still sitting on the fence.

Here are just some of the views you’ve been expressing.

“To all intents and purposes the National League is basically a professional league and as such there should a minimum of 3 teams promoted/relegated in line with the EFL. How can you have 4 places for relegation and 2 for promotion? It’s a bit of a farce really,” says Dmfergy.

Another concurs. “The lack of 3 promotion spots is a blatant attempt by the football league to pull up the drawbridge.”

One West Country football fan, meanwhile, can’t help but look back a couple of years and wonder what might have been. “Torquay would have gone up in 2021 if this was the case, our fortunes could have been so different,” says Torqster.

With the poll now running for another week, we want to hear your view. So, what are you waiting for? Come and visit us at nlp.todaysverdict.com
