When Jimmy McNulty said he was ‘absolutely devastated’ after Rochdale lost their Football League status last season, you know he really meant it – and it’s given him a burning desire to lead them back there.
The 38-year-old joined Dale in 2015 and has gone on to make well over 200 appearances, the bulk of them in League One. His game time diminished in the last couple of seasons as he took on player-coach duties.
