NUNEATON Borough have hailed an “unbelievable gesture” after it was confirmed Coventry City’s home stadium will host Boro’s FA Trophy clash with AFC Fylde on Saturday – for FREE!

The Southern Premier Central are effectively locked out of their Liberty Way home and have been playing games at Stratford Town while trying to resolve issues with their landlords.

Their last Trophy tie with Hyde United was switched to an away game. But it’s now been confirmed they will host the National League Coasters in the second round at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Jimmy Ginnelly, manager of Nuneaton Borough, said: “We can’t thank Doug King, Dave Boddy and the team at the Coventry Building Society Arena enough for their unbelievable gesture.”

Coventry owner Doug King said: “We are pleased to be able to help our friends at Nuneaton Borough in these difficult times for them.

“We are only too aware of the situation that they find themselves in and when they approached us, we were keen to play our part and arrange for the game against Fylde to take place at our home ground.”
