Match Preview: Oxford City v Southend United (Saturday, 3pm)

Southend United are strong favourites to take all three points despite Oxford City’s home advantage in Saturday’s match at the RAW Charging Stadium.

Betting companies* are offering odds of 1.48 on Southend sealing the win, with the visitors sitting 10th in the National League table.

Oxford, who are 24th in the league and 17 points behind the Shrimpers, are priced at 5.6 to win. A draw is set at 4.23.

Oxford are in bad form in the National League, with one win and five losses from their last six games.

With two wins and four losses over that period, Southend’s form is better – they have taken six points from 18, compared to City’s three.

With 45 goals in 33 games so far this season, the home team are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.4 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 68 goals at a rate of 2.1 per game.

United, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.5 goals per game. They have conceded 1.1 goals per game.

Oxford’s last match was on February 10, a 7-1 loss against Dagenham and Redbridge, with Jacob Roddy getting the goal for Oxford.

Southend lost 1-0 against York City last time out, also on February 10.
