Match Preview: Woking v Gateshead (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Gateshead come to the Laithwaite Community Stadium to play Woking on late Tuesday in excellent form, having collected 16 points from their last six games.

The visitors have won five and drawn one of their last six fixtures, while the Cardinals have a win and two draws.

With 34 goals in 35 games so far this season, Woking are the league’s second-lowest scorers with 1.0 goals per game. But they are conceding fewer than average too, letting in 44 goals at a rate of 1.3 per game.

Gateshead, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.9 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.3 goals per game.

The Cardinals are 23rd in the table after 35 games, of which they have won nine and drawn eight, earning 35 points.

The Tynesiders are 18 places ahead of the home side in fifth, with 16 wins and eight draws putting them on 56 points.

In the last 10 years, Woking and Gateshead have played each other on 11 occasions. Woking won seven of them, Gateshead one, and they drew three times.

On average, the Cardinals scored 2.2 goals and the Tynesiders 0.8 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on August 26, when Woking won 3-1 away.

Woking’s last match was on Saturday, a 1-1 draw against Wealdstone.

Gateshead beat Oxford City 4-0 last time out, also on Saturday, with Marcus Dinanga Nyamabu (three) and Luke Hannant on the scoresheet.
