Match Preview: Hartlepool United v Barnet (Saturday, 3pm)

Barnet travel to the Suit Direct Stadium for Saturday’s match against Hartlepool United looking to bounce back from defeat last time out in the National League.

The Bees, who sit third in the league after 35 games, fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Chesterfield on Tuesday.

They face a Hartlepool side who also lost their last match, a 2-1 defeat to Solihull Moors, and who sit 11th in the table.

With 65 goals in 35 games so far this season, Barnet are the league’s third-highest scorers with 1.9 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 50 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

Hartlepool are also above average scorers, with 1.6 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.8 goals per game.

In the last 10 years, Hartlepool and Barnet have played each other on 11 occasions. Hartlepool won three of them, Barnet five, and they drew three times.

On average, Pools scored 1.2 goals and the Bees 1.4 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on August 5, when Barnet won 3-2 at home.

United are in good form in the National League, with four wins and a draw from their last six games.

With two wins and a draw over that period, the Bees’s form is much worse – they have taken seven points from 18, compared to Pools’ 13.
