Match Preview: Hartlepool United v FC Halifax Town (Friday, 3pm)

FC Halifax Town visit Hartlepool United at the Suit Direct Stadium on Friday on the back of three consecutive wins in the National League.

FC Halifax have picked up 15 points from their last six games, and they face a Pools side who lost their last match, and have collected five points from the last possible 18.

In the last 10 years, Hartlepool and FC Halifax have played each other on nine occasions. Hartlepool won four of them, FC Halifax three, and they drew twice.

On average, Pools scored 1.8 goals and the Shaymen 1.4 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on October 24, when FC Halifax won 2-1 at home.

With 50 goals in 39 games so far this season, FC Halifax are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.3 goals per game. But they are conceding fewer than average too, letting in 44 goals at a rate of 1.1 per game.

Hartlepool, meanwhile, are average scorers, with 1.5 goals per game. They have conceded 1.9 goals per game.

Town are ninth in the table after 39 games, of which they have won 17 and drawn 11, earning 62 points.

United are five places behind the Shaymen in 14th, with 14 wins and seven draws putting them on 49 points.

Hartlepool’s last match was on Tuesday, a 7-1 loss against Gateshead, with Joe Grey getting the goal for Pools.

FC Halifax beat Chesterfield 4-2 last time out, on March 20, with Robert William Harker (two), Aaron Cosgrove and Andrew Oluwabori on the scoresheet.
