Match Preview: York City v Chesterfield (Friday, 3pm)

York City host Chesterfield on Friday at the LNER Community Stadium in the National League.

In their last league match, on Saturday, York beat Bromley 2-0 away, with goals from Dipo Akinyemi and Marvin Armstrong.

Chesterfield also won, 3-0 at home against Boreham Wood, with Jamie Neil Grimes (two) and Liam Mandeville on the scoresheet.

With 100 goals in 41 games so far this season, Chesterfield are the league’s highest scorers with 2.4 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 55 goals at a rate of 1.3 per game.

York, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.2 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.6 goals per game.

The Spireites are top of the table after 41 games, of which they have won 30 and drawn five, earning 95 points.

City are 18 places behind the away team in 19th, with 10 wins and 16 draws putting them on 46 points.

The hosts are in mixed form in the National League, with two wins and a draw from their last six games.

With three wins and a draw over that period, Chesterfield’s form is better – they have taken 10 points from 18, compared to York’s seven.

In the last three years, York and Chesterfield have played each other on three occasions. They won one each, and they drew once.

Their last meeting was on October 24, when Chesterfield won 4-0 at home.
