Match Preview: Altrincham v Oldham Athletic (Monday, 2pm)

Oldham Athletic travel to the J. Davidson Stadium looking to secure a first win in seven National League games against Altrincham on Monday.

The Latics have lost two and drawn four matches since they last earned three points – against Eastleigh on February 27.

They face an Altrincham side who have won four and lost two over that time.

With 80 goals in 42 games so far this season, Altrincham are the league’s third-highest scorers with 1.9 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 59 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

Oldham, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.3 goals per game.

Robins are fifth in the table after 42 games, of which they have won 19 and drawn 10, earning 67 points.

Athletic are five places behind the home team in 10th, with 15 wins and 15 draws putting them on 60 points.

In the last five years, Altrincham and Oldham have played each other on four occasions. They won one each, and they drew twice.

On average, Robins scored 1.2 goals and the Latics 1.2 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on October 28, when they played out a 2-2 draw.

Altrincham’s last match was on Friday, a 3-1 win against Kidderminster Harriers, with Christopher Conn (two) and Regan Linney getting the goals for Robins.

Oldham lost 3-1 against Fylde last time out, also on Friday, with Danny Gardner on the scoresheet.
