Southend United made it back-to-back wins to start the new National League season with a slender victory over Andy Butler’s Scunthorpe United.
Summer signing Josh Popoola scored the only goal of the game for the new look Shrimpers who had Kieron Dyer in charge for the first time at Roots Hall.
And Dyer’s only complaint was that Southend did not win by more.
