HALIFAX TOWN manager Chris Millington says he is looking to add to his squad in the next couple of days before they take on Barnet this weekend.
The Shaymen reside in eighth place in the National League table, one place off the play-offs, and level on points with Yeovil Town and Altrincham.
On Saturday, Millington’s side narrowly beat Aldershot Town in an enthralling encounter that ended 3-4 to the visitors Halifax at the Recreation Ground.
Millington ‘hopeful’ of new signing soon
After a run of five games without victory, before defeating Aldershot, the former Oldham Athletic assistant is looking to the market to help boost his side’s chances this season.
“We’re hopeful there’ll be an announcement in the next couple of days on a player we know and who will improve the strength of the squad,” Millington told the Halifax Courier.
“We’re still having conversations about another one, but one we would hope will be announced in the next day or two.”
Wrexham loanee Billy Waters opened the scoring against Aldershot last weekend, for his fourth goal of the campaign in 16 league games.
Waters’ loan deal depends on Wrexham
Waters’ loan deal expires next month, and Millington provided an update on the 30-year-old’s situation.
He said: “We won’t know until January, and that’s largely going to depend on what Wrexham choose to do, what Billy chooses to do and unfortunately, thirdly, what we want to do.”
Halifax’s opening game of the season saw them run out 2-1 winners against Barnet, their opponents this Saturday, and Millington has received some positive news regarding defender Harvey Sutcliffe and forward Adan George.
“Harvey’s back out running on the grass so him and Adan are back in a positive place and we hope they’ll be available for us in the next ten days to two weeks,” he added.
Since their opening-day defeat to the West Yorkshire-based club, Barnet went on to win 15 times out of 21 league games that saw them rise to the top of the table – two points ahead of York City.
The Bees are the National League’s top goalscorers and will be out for revenge when they host the Shaymen at The Hive Stadium this weekend.
