Die-hard Gateshead fans who negotiated one of English football’s longest away trips were rewarded for their efforts – with a pie and a pint!
Bookmakers Sky Bet treated the 94 hardy Heed supporters who made the gruelling 15-hour, 920-mile round-trip from the extreme north-east to southwest for Gateshead’s National League fixture at Truro City last Saturday.
As part of their Fan Spotlight campaign – recognising and rewarding football fans who go above and beyond for their clubs – Sky Bet laid on a £920 bar tab – £1 for every mile travelled.
