Connor Gudger thanking Leamington fans for funding operation

Leamington Connor Gudger

Leamington defender Connor Gudger is thanking fans for helping to pay his medical bills and get him back on the road to recovery.
The 27-year-old left-back, pictured, will have an operation on Friday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament he damaged six weeks ago after Brakes supporters hit a £1,000 fundraising target on Monday.
Generous fans at the club’s National League North clash at home to Alfreton on Saturday, together with a JustGiving page, raised the funds.
The Professional Footballers Association are paying £6,000 toward the £7,000 cost of the operation which is going head after fans made up the difference.
The Brakes statement read: “We are delighted to report that our fundraising efforts in hitting our £1,000 target towards Connor Gudger’s medical bill has been reached.
“Connor thanks everyone for their fantastic support, which will allow the operation to now go ahead sooner rather than later.
“I’m sure everyone will join the club in wishing Connor well for Friday, that he enjoys a speedy recovery and we see him back in the club colours as soon as possible.”

Experience

Gudger is closing in on 200 games for the Gold and Black since signing from Worcester City in February 2015. Since making his Leamington debut in a 1-1 draw with Harrogate, he has gone on to make the left-back position virtually his own.
After kicking off his career began in the youth set-up at Coventry City, Gudger turned out for Tamworth in the Conference either side of spells at Hinckley United.
