BLYTH SPARTANS’ miserable start to the season continued in Northumberland.
Having managed to ship 10 goals in two away games, they leaked another three on home soil.
They were still in the game until the later stages after George Newell had given Southport a 40th minute lead.
Further strikes towards the end of the second half from Dylan Vassallo and Marcus Carver, however, put the game to bed.
Blyth were dangerous on the counter but Port had the better of the chances early on.
