Boro’s Kasimu

TALENT: Hisham Kasimu

HISHAM Kasimu has leapt from Step 4 to League Two in the space of nine months after completing a move to Sutton United.

The 25-year-old scored 30 goals from AFC Totton in Southern Division One South last season, earning him a move National League South new boys Farnborough.

And he continued his rich vein of form at Cherrywood Road, scoring 12 goals in the first half of his inaugural Step 2 season, drawing attention from Football League clubs.

Kasimu was in the Farnborough side which beat Sutton in the FA Cup earlier this season, prompting U’s boss Matt Gray to come calling.

“We are proud that we yet again have brought through a player to get into the Football League,” Boro boss Spencer Day said. “We wish Hisham nothing but success as a pro and are pleased we played our part. Of course, on a selfish basis we are sad to see him go but this is football.”

Day also agreed to mutually terminate the contract of experienced midfielder Sam Deering this week following a recent spell out of the side.

Deering, 31, will forever be remembered at Farnborough for scoring the winning goal in the play-off final against Hayes & Yeading in May.

In their place comes former Woking and Aldershot striker Chike Kandi and Maidenhead United midfielder Bradley Keetch on loan until the end of the season.

It’s all change also at Farnborough’s league rivals Havant & Waterlooville, who saw midfielder Billy Clifford leave to join fellow title chasers Ebbsfleet United.

Clifford has been replaced at Westleigh by former Eastleigh man Sam Matthews, while defender Sam Magri has signed dual registration forms with Bognor Regis Town while he continues his recovery from injury.
