BRAINTREE Town have won the race to sign talented forward Jamie Bennett.
The former AFC Sudbury striker spent time on trial at League Two side Colchester United and has been watched by a number of Step 2 and Step 3 sides this season after scoring 14 goals for Stanway Rovers in their Isthmian North promotion season last term.
Meanwhile, Steve Pitt’s Iron have been once again invited to compete in the National League Cup and start their fixtures with a first group match on Wednesday, August 19.
