South Shields pulled within a point of leaders AFC Fylde after they rode out convincing victors over third-placed Merthyr Town on South Tyneside.

Ace marksman Paul Blackett set the tone with two quick goals.
Sonny Finch added another ten minutes before the interval and Oli Bainbridge got the fourth just before the hour.
