National League South previews

National League

The NLP have chosen Torquay United v Dorking Wanderers as today’s Star Game in National League South.

Torquay recovered from last Saturday’s loss to Farnborough by winning at Bath City on Tuesday. Cody Cooke netted against his former club at Twerton Park. Dorking dropped points for the first time this season as Boreham Wood came from behind twice to draw at Meadowbank. Jason Prior had netted a double for Marc White’s side.

Farnborough are the only team with three wins from three. Their latest was over Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday and this weekend they’re at Welling United, who didn’t have a midweek fixture.

Their match at Worthing was postponed while the Rebels’ stadium is undergoing renovations. Chris Agutter’s side return to action at Hemel Hempstead Town, who’ve won their last two without conceding, moving them up to second.

They’re level on points with Hertfordshire rivals Boreham Wood. Ross Jenkins’ charges are home to Weymouth, who are the only team without a point from three games.

Aveley ended with nine men in Monday’s loss v Hemel. Manny Ogunrinde and Garrett Kelly’s suspensions won’s kick in this weekend, they’ll need them at Eastbourne Borough today.

Slough Town went on the rampage on Tuesday night, thrashing Enfield Town 6-1 for their biggest away win at this level. Their home form isn’t bad either – no losses at Arbour Park since last September. For a third game running they host a newly promoted side, this time Hornchurch the visitors. They’ve won two from three thus far. Enfield Town will be hoping to recover at Truro City.

Last year’s runners-up Chelmsford City are still searching for their first win. They make the long journey to Weston-super-Mare, who claimed their first three points on Tuesday at Chesham United. The Generals are away to St Albans City, another team who have made a surprisingly slow start with one point from three contests.

Hampton & Richmond are home to Salisbury having picked up two creditable away draws while Tonbridge Angels, who match Salisbury in five points from three games, host Bath City.
