KEMPSTON did what they had to do, but Egham’s win over Barton meant it was sixth place for the Walnuts.
In front of a crowd of 288, Rovers set about their task quickly. It took six minutes for Jake Newman to open the scoring after beating the offside trap.
Luke Heneghan and Robbie Goodman had opportunities to extend the lead, but it was Ben Shepherd who took his chance, striking in off the post.
