FORMER manager Andy Sampson has returned to take charge of relegated Newport IoW after they finished second from bottom of the Wessex Premier Division.
Sampson, 53, will replace interim manager Derek Ohren at the end of the season.
Club chairman Tony Wake said: “Andy is well known and respected by the players and fans and showed great interest and passion in our plans moving forward.
“We were also impressed to have so many high-quality applicants for the position.”
The appointment was made after Newport won planning permission to move to a new ground near Whippingham.
