APPROPRIATELY for the international break, Staines entertained Merthyr for the first time but were again on the wrong end of a hefty scoreline, thus slipping in to the drop zone at a blustery Wheatsheaf Park.
Merthyr’s Kerry Morgan and Staines’ Andy Ali both had early chances before Tom Meechan opened the scoring for the Welsh side with a great shot from 20 yards.
When Corey Jenkins curled in a cross from the left three minutes later, Meechan’s glancing header made it two.
