LEE Lucas shone with a goal and an assist as Merthyr took three points back to Wales with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Basingstoke started well, with Ben Wright hitting a post while Sam Argent, Jack McKnight and Sam Smart all went close with good chances.
Craig McDonnell headed a corner narrowly wide as the Martyrs’ midfield trio began to exert control as the first half went on.
