POOLE edged out fellow play-off rivals Gosport in a close encounter.
The Dolphins’ manager, Tommy Killick, had expected “a tight result”, but they took the lead after ten minutes from their first chance with Corby Moore’s corner powerfully guided on at the near side by captain Jamie Whisken with the ball appearing to go in via keeper Bert White.
Gosport had a couple of chances, but both Dan Wooden and Rory Williams fired straight at Mark Childs.
Poole were then gifted a second when the ball struck one...
