POOLE claimed a comfortable victory against bottom club Merthyr, thanks to two first-half goals.
In a scrappy opening quarter, Merthyr looked the better team, but Poole grew into the game.
Attempts by both teams in the opening 20 minutes saw comfortable saves for the keepers or shots going wide. Poole took the lead in the 25th minute, when Will Fletcher’s break saw him pass the keeper, but took too long and saw his shot blocked before he found Luke Burbidge who finished from the centre.
