MERTHYR TOWN enjoyed a comprehensive victory over a depleted Salisbury, with their striker Lewis Powell scoring a hat-trick.
The home side started brightly against a makeshift team. After only five minutes, Salisbury failed to clear their lines and Matt Harris, making his 250th appearance for Merthyr, put the home side ahead. Merthyr gradually gained the upper hand in midfield. However, in the 21st-minute Salisbury’s Charlie Davis played in Dan Fitchett in front of goal, but he could only weakly shoot straight at the Merthyr keeper.
