SALISBURY started the season with a hard-fought win over Beaconsfield, and owed a huge amount to their keeper Gerard Benfield.
Beaconsfield favoured the long ball but Benfield thwarted their first attempt on goal after 14 minutes with the first of a series of saves.
Twice more the visitors threatened the Salisbury goal with close range efforts but Benfield was equal to them. Whites’ Marvin Brooks tried an audacious lob from the corner of the penalty area, but the ball just cleared the bar with the keeper stranded.
