HITCHIN achieved their first win in four games and kept a clean sheet as a bonus in a game they controlled until fairly late in the second half.
An uninspiring start saw few chances, but the more direct play came from Hitchin with efforts from Layne Eadie and Brad Bell, and Diogo Freitas-Gouveia had a chance punched away by Ollie Taylor.
Then Freitas-Gouveia strode forward to convert the opening goal in the bottom-right corner, after 33 minutes. Hitchin finished the half strongly and took the lead to the interval. Miro Pais over the bar ...
